Sourcing Strategy
Many enterprises concerned themselves in the last years with outsourcing questions and they not always made good experiences within this area.
In the outsourcing area of software development projects we are engaged in three central questions, which we transformed into consulting service for our customers:
- Which Product should be developed by an outsourcing partner?
Basis for this decision must be an active portfolio management and a well defined sourcing strategy including clear criteria to assess business processes and the results (dependencies to the supplier, Know-how-Drain, flexibility, etc.)
- To whom should be outsourced?
Important is to get transparency about the possible partners and to have a well defined supplier selection process.Therefore a kind of "Due Diligence" process is needed which consists of process assessments (CMMI), appraisal of business (economic stability), employee assessments (know-how and experience) and a market survey (cost indices, quality of the legal system). - Fit4sourcing?
Do the client processes have a sufficient quality to give the application development to an external organisation? Here are in particular the processes: requirements Engineering, Testing, change management and project management addressed.
